Vivien Haley
Artist and Designer
Born in London England, Vivien fell in love with the landscape surrounding St Ives and also Henry Moore’s sculpture studio in Cornwall, as a child.
Emigrating to Australia in the mid sixties, she graduated from East Sydney Art School, in the early seventies. Majoring in sculpture and printmaking, Vivien exhibited as a sculptor before becoming enamoured with Japanese textiles.
She began hand block printing silk fabrics for both sale & exhibition, becoming one of the country’s leading textile artists in the nineties. Acclaimed for the elegant sensibility of her printmaking, she exhibited her work both in Australia and internationally.
Over the last decade, influenced by the landscape surrounding her home in the Illawarra, Vivien returned to fine art and began exhibiting painting & mixed media. She is currently represented by one of Sydney’s leading galleries in Dank Street, Waterloo.
Seeing the changing nature of her coastal town of Thirroul and anticipating the need for a more inner city style, Vivien began her own retail store five years ago.
